Freight Payment Specialist

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing transportation and logistics services organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Freight Payment Specialist to support invoice processing, payment verification, reconciliation, and customer communication activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, identifying discrepancies, solving problems, and maintaining a high level of accuracy. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to balance productivity with quality in a deadline-driven environment.


Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process invoices in a timely and accurate manner
  • Enter invoice and payment information into internal systems while maintaining data accuracy
  • Validate charges, allocations, payee information, and supporting documentation
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and invoice exceptions
  • Reconcile transactions to ensure payments are correctly balanced and allocated
  • Review records to identify duplicate payments and data-entry errors
  • Generate reports and maintain detailed payment and account documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers and vendors regarding payment status, account inquiries, and issue resolution
  • Document inquiries, resolutions, and follow-up actions
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records in accordance with company procedures
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support workflow management and timely payment processing

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of experience in:
    • Accounts Payable
    • Billing
    • Invoice Processing
    • Data Entry
    • Customer Service
    • Administrative Support
    • Transportation or Logistics Operations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong numerical aptitude and comfort working with financial information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks

Preferred

  • Transportation, logistics, freight, shipping, or supply chain experience
  • Accounts payable or invoice reconciliation experience
  • Experience processing high volumes of transactions
  • Exposure to EDI transactions, auditing, billing, or payment processing
  • College coursework or degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field

Compensation & Schedule

  • $20-$24/hour DOE
  • Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
  • 100% Onsite
  • Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
